In Australia responsibility is split between DOTARS and ACCC. DOTARS receives the safety reports from Consumers and Manufacturers, investigates the problems and then the ACCC issues any recall notification.

In Canada Transport Canada receives the safety reports from Consumers and Manufacturers, investigates the problems and then issues any recalls.

In the EU Consumers and Manufacturers report safety issues to individual countries for investigation and action then reports are sent to RAPEX for publication. Search RAPEX using Motor Vehicle and Protective Equipment. FEMA also maintains lists of motorcycle recalls.

Search the New Zealand Database for current recalls

In the UK Consumers and Manufacturers report safety issues to VOSA for investigation and action then reports are published on the DFT web site.

In the USA Consumers and Manufacturers report safety issues to Safer Car for investigation and action. NHTSA maintains the database for complaints, investigations and recalls. There is also provision for lodging Technical Service Bulletins by manufacturers. Where a recall is undertaken in the US manufacturers are required to submit periodic reports to the NHTSA showing the results of the recall and how many machines have been rectified.
